Cocaine seized during traffic stop

HAVELOCK, N.B. – For the second time in less than a week, a traffic stop west of Moncton has resulted in a significant amount of drugs being seized by police.

This time, 5 1/2 pounds of cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash were taken from a vehicle stopped on the Trans Canada Highway near Havelock on Thursday.

Lajuane Bruce, 38, and Debonnie Pearce, 26, both of Halifax, have been arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime.

They remain in custody and will be back in court next week.
